Science Fiction and...Business!

TechCrunch logo
Cheeky headline aside, influential Silicon Valley blog TechCrunch’s founder and resident Business/Tech 2.0 guru, Michael Arrington, has a thought-provoking post today suggesting that entrepreneurs should consider skipping the books of Tom Peters, Jim Collins, Peter F. Drucker, et. al. for more imagination-firing Sci-Fi fare like Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov…and, well, the usual suspects.

That said, Arrington’s top ten is a good list and can be found in this post.

What an awesome article (and list) via TechCrunch! I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I've never ready Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land and haven't worked myself up to approach Anathem yet.

If I could add to this list, I'd place Philip K. Dick's novels, especially the Valis Books or, my personal favorite, Flow My Tears the Policeman Said. While I don't agree with all the mysticism that sometimes seeped into his works, PKD is one of my favorite authors to read when I want a book that is both fun and mentally stimulating.
