Glee
Okay, so hear me out. I know you’re thinking, how the heck does a show about choir fit in with Suvudu? Well, I could try and make some totally far-fetched connection like, oh, the kids on Glee are nerds and Suvudu is a nerd-friendly site and maybe some of the kids even like to read sci-fi/fantasy, who knows, right?
Or, I could just say that this show is just plain good. And you should trust me and give it a shot. That’s not enough? How about this - in the 1st episode they aired all the way back in May, the kids band together at the end (after many a trial) and sing Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” in a scene that I have watched approximately 6 times since. That’s right. But who knows. Maybe you’re someone who hates the inspirational, joyous sound of voices blending together in perfect harmony. Maybe you’re a little dead inside. Then this show’s probably not for you.
Premieres 9/9 on Fox, 9/8c
More tv shows after the jump…
Flash Forward
In almost every article I've read about this new show from ABC, there's been the inevitable comparison to Lost - both shows feature a big, overarching mystery, interwoven stories, and have more drama than you can shake your fist at. Apparently, the Flash Forward producers hate this comparison.
In any case, I'll probably be giving this a shot because 1) John Cho is in it and he's frakkin' awesome 2) "There's nothing more exciting than time travel. Mysterious time travel." - my friend Amy K. 3) David S. Goyer, writer of Batman Begins, wrote/produced/directed the first episode. Enough said.
Premieres 9/24 on ABC, 8/7c.
Vampire Diaries
Pretty people + supernatural elements + romantic triangle = Vampire Diaries. Let's face it. I'm probably going to watch at least the first episode of this show, despite my friend Tillie's comments about the pilot. A summary of the show, in her own words (she was able to watch the pilot a few days ago):
"It's a CW show with dark, brooding vampires. It's really easy-to-understand teenagers with I'm-a-beautiful-person problems. And there's a vampire who writes in a diary, that's just a side bonus.
"The pilot goes like this: Regular looking preppy girl has some sort of dark, sad past. There's some sort of tragedy in her past involving her parents' death. She starts going to high school and there's this new kid, who's clearly the vampire because he looks like a combination of pale Edward and brooding Angel. It seems like it's going to go into a Twilight storyline but all of a sudden there's extra special effects like fog and crows."
Well there you have it. I personally will be watching for the "extra special effects like fog and crows."
Premieres 9/10 on the CW at 8/7c.
V
Remake of an 80s series which Tillie recommends over the Vampire Diaries. I'm sure most of you will agree with her. For those of you who don't know what it's all about (as I didn't), it's about aliens who come to Earth and "try to be buddy-buddy like they're a good cult but they look like sharks" so you know they can't be good (Tillie). What sinister purpose are they actually on Earth for and how can we stop them?
Not going to lie, I probably won't be watching this but I felt it was Suvudu-appropriate to list it. Plus, Inara from Firefly is in it and plays an alien!
Premieres 11/3 on ABC at 8/7c.

I'm with you on "Glee" and "Flash Forward", who doesn't love tortured teenages and time travel??
"V" could be good, or as bad as the original. I'm in a "wait & see" mindset on this one.
"Vampire Diaries" is a pass. I had enough of vampires 4 seasons into "Angel" ;)
With the passing of Battlestar Galactica, and Lost ending this season, I'm going to need some replacements to fill the hours.
Here's hoping something sticks!
Here is a snippet of dialog between the two main characters of the Vampire Diaries. Totally legit.
Girl: Wah wah my parents died in a car crash but at least I am comforted by my diary and this new influx of fog which nobody else seems to notice and which heralds the coming of Fangs McBroodsmuch. Yum!
Fangs McBroodsmuch: I also have a diary. And a magical ring. Love me. Oh, and I am a vegetarian. Sort of. Do you like my crows?
If that dialog were legit, I'd be closer to considering watching it. If that dialog were legit AND Bruce Campbell were involved in some way, it would be totally expected and would probably be the fall television smash hit of the season.
So what did we learn today? If your show is corny, get Bruce involved. He'll save you.
Fangs McBroodsmuch is now the defacto name for such characters, btw. Stroke of genius. :-)
Okay I seriously want to watch Vampire Diaries (I almost abbreviated the title of the show but realized that might not be the best idea) even more now. Thanks Tillie.
And Leah, I've got high hopes too. Especially for Glee. How torturous was it that they put 3 long months in between the first ep and the rest of the season???
I'm a little dead inside!!!
I haven't heard of FLASH FORWARD before, but if it airs at a convenient time I'll give it a try.
But CWilight... I mean, CW's version of Twilight? There aren't enough fog-shrouded crows in the world.
I wonder if they're going to revisit the Nazi themes in the new V?
So I was putting away my copy of The Sheriff of Yernameer when I noticed something I'd forgotten about since I unpacked it from my San Diego Comic-Con swag: a free copy of the first two installments (combined into one thick volume for easy reading) of L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries! Ga-whaaaa?!
Well, my library holds aren't ready to be picked up yet, so I guess this will have to do. Fangs McBroodsmuch, here I come!
