As I’m sure all of you faithful Suvudu readers know, The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown is now on sale. The anticipation and mystery over this sure to be best seller has been building for some now so I don’t think I need to go into more detail about the book itself. What I stumbled across in my internet travels, and thought Suvudu readers might be interested in, was a fascinating little documentary that takes us step-by-step through the printing and binding process of the book. This same process applies to just about any hardcover (and softcover, with some minor alterations) that we publish…minus the dual guards protecting the book 24-7 in a locked enclosure! Grab a snack, embiggen the video, and enjoy.

Working non-stop at 30,000 books an hour, it takes almost a week to print all of the copies.
So... how was the book proofread?
Was it like Monty Python, where each person was only allowed to read a sentence, lest they go mad?
Hmmm... perhaps I'll write an historical thriller with "Wenn ist das Nunstruck git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!" as the mysterious message left scrawled on Stonehenge.
