Has anyone seen the movie? How come no one told me how great it was?! That opening scene with the dolphins. Priceless. So long and thanks for all the fish!

  • Definitely - such a great movie and an even greater book! Have you read it?

  • I have read every book in that series and they were terrific. Although, and this is just me, I think they trailed off a bit at the end. Just me? It might just be me.

In fairness, I tried to read them all back-to-back-to-back and so on, so perhaps I was trailing off a bit too. It's possible.

I haven't seen the latest movie. I DID see an older BBC production of the book though. And that was interesting.

  • I agree, Kyle. While they are all still silly and immeasurably random, the books do seem to stray a bit in terms of narrative. I loved "Life, the Universe, and Everything" because of the planet of mattresses flolloping about, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you what the plot was. I do remember there being some sort of forgetful flying technique in the last book, though.

I really enjoyed the movie. The whale bit was funny and they did a great job with Marvin. I'm so glad they chose to do Jim Henson-style puppets instead of going CG all the way. Those Vogons were sweet! And casting Sam Rockwell as Zaphod? Aces.

  • Well.. yo all made me very curious to see it too! Hope is as good as you say it is! I haven't read the book so i don't know what to expect to!
