So, there's been a lot of buzz recently about podiobook authors in both Time magazine and the New York Times. Frequent Suvudu readers will note that we wrote a story on this item before them both, but that's beside the point. Anyhow, what are your thoughts on podiobooks? Have you listened to one? Have recommendations? And what about the potential for authors to sell their own e-books? What other avenues do you see opening up?

I haven't listened to podiobooks - what is the difference between podiobooks and audiobooks?
Little to none, much of the time. The idea is that an author records the their book and releases it as a podcast. Often a chapter or two at a time. The audio quality on some of these is actually very good (others, you just have to listen to the story and accept a little audio "color").
I've heard Mur Lafferty, Scott Sigler, and JC Hutchins via podiobooks and would recommend them all in a heartbeat!
Does anybody listen to podcasts while commuting? Does that work?
Only all the time. Though lately I've been sucked into a print book that I'm reading even on the train, but I would do this even when I had a car. It made the time go by a little faster.
I've listened to podcasts while commuting - love it! it's another amazing form of entertainment, very often for free.
