Oh my goodness. The immediate name that comes to mind is Neil Gaiman. But Bill Bryson (he makes me laugh) would be awesome, Stephen King makes my list, as would Brian K. Vaughn.
The ultimate would have been Kurt Vonnigut, but unfortunately that isn't going to happen now.
Stephen King is so hard to get anymore. I have a great story about King personalizing a book to me. Perhaps I'll write about that this weekend on Suvudu. :)
For me, living, I'd have to say a signed copy of Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss -- right in me bitty hands right now. haha
Yeah, I bet King is tough. I kick myself sometimes because I had an opportunity to attend a signing he was doing some years back, but turned down the opportunity.
And what did I do instead? Went bowling with friends.
Does someone have a lash, I feel the need to punish myself...
I could name a few too many and it's subject to change from day-to-day but...topping the list would probably be The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson or anything by Thomas Pynchon (anyone know where he is? :)) -- just to have it.
He's a bit obscure now, but I'd love to get my copy of the Long Run signed by Daniel Keys Moran.
Pete, you really should be wanting to listen to Stephenson speak.... the man is a genius, he signed here in Portland last fall.... wow.

A copy of Stardust, signed be Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess, would be the star of my collection.

I've not Stephenson speak but I can imagine it. I will make a point of getting out next time he is in NYC.
Thanks for the tip, TJ. I've not heard him speak but can imagine it. Next time he's in NYC, I'll make sure to get out and see him.
