I'm looking to plump up my Netflix queue a bit - any suggestions for MUST SEE movies? I'm open to pretty much any genre except for horror. My imagination is scary enough on its own, thank you.

A couple years ago I watched and greatly enjoyed a small film called Primer. I will not try to explain the plot (heads up for spoilers when reading about it) only to say that it's a mind-bender. Fun and very smart. IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/
Cheesy TV: Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital (it appeared on ABC originally and there isn't much horror involved, but plenty of fun campy moments)
Futurama: Bender's Game is a funny take on LARPing throught the eyes of the Futurama team.
The Iron Giant: I would argue this is the best family robot cartoon movie yet made...including Wall-E. It's that good.
Looking for more heady fare: The Fountain is both visually stunning and has a deep and chewy narrative that will have you thinking for hours (or days) afterward.
Pans Labyrinth. Just because. Even if you've seen it already, watch it again. I'll bring popcorn - just watch it!
(also, the Hellboy movies are a lot of fun)
For some fun NonFiction Science and, yep, Fantasy too:
Origins: Nova (pts 1 and 2): Neil deGrasse Tyson hosts and examines the origins and mysteries of the Cosmos.
Hyperspace: Sam Neill hosts this really entertaining look at space. This one does a great job of taking heavy stuff and breaking it down for people like, well, me.
Darkon: I love this look at LARPing and the people who play. Without an agenda, you get to see who plays, what drew them in, what keeps them coming back, and what the heck is going on during the games. Great documentary.
The King of Kong: there's controversy around how skewed this one might actually be (or so I've heard), but the story of one man's attempt to break the Donkey Kong high score record is a fun watch and a real blast from the past for those of us who remember actually spending time and quarters in arcades.
Finally, you know I've got some more good suggestions in my Top SciFi movies posts. You can check them out here: Part 1 and Part 2
The efforts that are shown here must be appreciated by everyone.

This isn't sci-fi related, but Surfwise was a fun documentary.
Alright, you asked for it, Christine. Here are some films you might not have seen yet. *clears throat*
Comedy:
Waiting For Guffman - my favorite Christopher Guest mockumentary with a stellar cast. These songs will be stuck in your head for years. If you like this, you can move on to Best In Show.
Bringing Up Baby - my favorite Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant comedy. What quick, witty banter!! If you like this, then check out another old favorite of mine, Miracle of Morgan's Creek. Then of course there's The Awful Truth. Yay for old screwball comedies!
Kabluey - an odd comedy that fell through the cracks. Some very interesting performances. And that suit!
Drama:
The Fall - a beautiful movie and an interesting tale. That little girl is simply amazing.
Wristcutters - a different vision of the afterlife. An odd piece, to be sure, but something about it just worked for me.
The Darjeeling Limited - ah, Wes Anderson. Love the cinematography! Such colors! And the actors make for a fun trio of brothers.
Animation:
The Girl Who Leapt Though Time - a well-done Japanese feature about a girl who finds out she can travel back in time. By jumping.
Persepolis - you must've seen this...
Foreign:
Son of Rambow - a cute British flick about some kids who set out to make their own action movie.
Run Lola Run - have you seen this? I think maybe you have. Still, a very original German flick.
Battle Royale - it's not a horror film, but more like a bloody action/thriller. You may have seen this too, come to think of it.
That's it for now. Try those on and let me know if you want more! Muahahahaha!! And when are you fitting in time for Hana Kimi??
I would check out
Oldboy- a korean film that is part of the Vengence Trilogy of Park Chan wook...hands down a disturbing film that leaves you reeling for resolution.
Let the Right One In- Better than twilight....boy meets girl, girl is vampire...
The Rock- I'd only watch it with guys though. It makes it more fun especially guys who have memorized the lines to the film...like me
The Descent- low lighting in this film leaves you in the dark for this Girl power film
High and Low- Kurosawa is a master at telling films that keep you emotionally invested and make you a better human being.
I second LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. Very creepy cool.
OUTLANDER was pretty cool. Spaceman Jim Caveziel (sp?) and a stowed-away alien predator crash land in Norway in 790 a.d. Predator starts killing villages and JC has to help the Vikings kill the "dragon." Gory, but fun. Effects were cool for such a low budget flick.
MONGOL is a foreign language film about the early part of Genghis Khan's life. BRILLIANT! I an eagerly anticipating part 2, THE GREAT KHAN.
HAMLET 2 is hysterical. If you liked movies like WAITING FOR GUFFMAN or BEST IN SHOW I recommend this one.
Couple good thrillers, MICHAEL CLAYTON and THE INTERNATIONAL. Can't say enough how great CLAYTON is. Excellent script, great performances all around, and an amazingly satisfying ending that I immediately rewound and watched again. THE INTERNATIONAL is a slow build thriller carried early on by the always awesome Clive Owen. When you get to the scene in the Gugenheim you'll be glad you watched this movie (if you are a fan of Michael Mann's HEAT). The making of that scene in the Special Features on the disk is just as amazing.
Okay you guys are all officially awesome, especially because I've already seen some of these movies, which means we have similar tastes!
Loved Pan's Labyrinth, The Fall, Run Lola Run, & Let the Right One In. On a sidenote - I cannot believe they are remaking Let the Right One In in the US. WHY?? Why do Americans feel the need to remake all the best foreign films? Maybe this ought to be a separate forum topic but honestly, I don't think I've ever seen an American version of a foreign film that was better than the original. Can you think of one? I sure can't.
I've been wanting to watch Hamlet 2 for forever so I'm definitely adding that to my queue. As I am for a bunch more of these movies - thank you all for the great suggestions! Let's keep this a running thread, yes? Everyone update whenever they see a great film!
I would highly recommend THE LIVES OF OTHERS if you guys haven't seen it yet. It was amazing and heartbreaking all at once.
I have one simple recommendation: Gran Torino. You may or may not like Clint Eastwood, but this movie is a definite MUST SEE. Of course, it isn't science fiction or fantasy but it is a MUST SEE.
Did I say it was a MUST SEE?
Sir Jon
The Emperor's Club: It's a nice movie. It's a drama. The plot took place in the school for boys. It is story about a teacher who wants he's one student to change from a bad boy to a good one. But you'll be surprise with the ending, really.
