Yeah, the news out of England isn’t good, well, at least it isn’t good if your a Doctor Who fan. David Tennant, the current running Doctor, is leaving the show. But then, if you’re a long time fan of the show, you saw this day coming, now didn’t you?
In terms of the show alone, David was the tenth Doctor to helm the Tardis, battle Daleks, and crack many a fun quip along the way. When you mix in all the actors and actresses who have appeared as the Doctor (or a Doctor), then the list grows to near the thirties (and includes Mr. Bean!). Though Christopher Eccleston kicked off this latest incarnation of the Doctor, it has been Tennant who has become the face of the new Doctor Who.
The Times Online has a fantastic story detailing Tennant’s stepping down, and I recommend you read it if you’re interested on the betting odds of the next doctor. Apparently, there’s 3-to-1 odds on Patterson Joseph becoming the next doctor and, if it happens, the first black Doctor. Hmmm…
