Hoy!
The past New York Comic Con weekend was a great one for Del Rey, as numerous people have already said (Kyle, Shawn, and the like). Folks flocked to our booth intrigued by some of our new authors (Peter V. Brett, Robert Redick, C.C. Finlay come to mind) and some old favorites, including John Birmingham, Alex Irvine, and Charlie Huston. Speaking of Charlie Huston…
Charlie was in town to support his recently released tome of pulpy visceral comedic noir goodness; THE MYSTIC ARTS OF ERASING ALL SIGNS OF DEATH. Most folks are in agreement that it’s some of his best stuff ever, this includes Steven King (who wrote an amazing review for Amazon), the New York Times and Drew Mcweeney, also known as Moriarty from Ain’t It Cool, and now has his own blog, Motion/Captured.
Charlie signed copies of the first book in his gruesomely delicious Joe Pitt Casebooks, ALREADY DEAD, at the Con’s authograph area and the response was awesome. Check out the clip…be sure to catch the fan slam down all of Charlie’s catalogue and dish on how he first checked him out at San Diego Comic Con 5 years ago…
As you can see, Charlie was gracious throughout, signed tons of stuff, shook a few hands, gave advice to aspiring writers, and took some pictures to boot. You may have noticed the kick ass cover of MYSTIC ARTS in the clip. If not, here it is….ZAP!

What a cover. It definitely captures the feel of the book without giving that much away. Definitely worth a read. I loved it.
And now I’m intrigued into his take on this Moon Knight comic series from Marvel. Has anyone been following Charlie’s writing in the comics world? I’m curious to know.
Stay Tuned.
