I love The Wizard of Oz (“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more.”). It is a timeless movie and much like A Christmas Story (“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.”), I can watch it over and over and over again.
Well, hold onto your britches. We might be getting a new animated feature from Oz! John Boorman, UK director who brought us one of the first well-done fantasy movies in Excalibur (“Looking at the cake is like looking at the future, until you’ve tasted it, what do you really know? And then, of course, it’s too late.”), is slated to direct a faithful adaptation of the Frank Baum book, staying as close as he can to the original material. No singing, no Judy Garland! Just Dorothy and Oz and Company!
Aint It Cool News has a rare first glimpse of this project, with tons of concept artwork posted for your viewing! Check it out! I’d love to hear what you think on it!
