Welcome to the New Suvudu: A Fresh Chapter for Sci-Fi Exploration
Hello and welcome to Suvudu.com!
If you’re arriving here after knowing the original site from years past, you might remember Suvudu as the science fiction and fantasy portal originally created and run by Random House (later part of Penguin Random House). That version of Suvudu—famous for author interviews, book previews, free library downloads, Cage Matches, and more—ceased active updates several years ago, and the official successor became Unbound Worlds under Penguin Random House.
We are not affiliated with Random House, Penguin Random House, or any legacy publisher tied to the original Suvudu.
Instead, we recently acquired the domain suvudu.com because of its strong legacy in the sci-fi/fantasy community and its memorable name (evoking “suvudu” as a playful nod to immersive, otherworldly journeys). We saw an opportunity to breathe new life into it as an independent hub.
Our vision: Suvudu is now being rebuilt as a transportational sci-fi hub — a dedicated space celebrating stories that truly transport readers. Whether through mind-bending concepts, interstellar voyages, alternate realities, time slips, consciousness uploads, dimensional shifts, or any narrative that lifts you out of the everyday and into the vast unknown, this is the place for thoughtful discussion, recommendations, reviews, original essays, emerging voices, and community around transcendent, escapist, and idea-driven science fiction.
We aim to focus on:
- Deep dives into “transportational” themes in sci-fi (classics and new releases alike)
- Curated reading lists and discovery recommendations
- Spotlights on indie authors, small presses, and underrepresented voices
- Forums or comment-driven conversations (as the site grows)
- Occasional original fiction or speculative essays
This is an early-stage revival, so expect ongoing updates as we build out features, design, and content. If you’re a writer, reader, artist, or enthusiast who loves sci-fi that takes you somewhere else entirely—stay tuned, subscribe, and feel free to reach out with ideas.
Thanks for joining us on this new journey. Let’s explore the stars, the voids, and the strange new worlds together.
